Florida To Fully Implement Common Core-Based Standards
Posted Saturday, August 16th 2014 @ 6am

As Florida kids head back to school Monday, the state is set to begin fully implementing the Common Core-based educational standards.

Educator David Scott says while parents have mixed feelings about the changes, new systems need to be in effect for a few years before they can be judged for success.

And, he says that success will be directly connected to the quality of environments, leadership and teaching, technology, and partnerships between school and home.

Florida schools began rolling out the program several years ago for kindergarten, first and second graders.

But, for the 2014-2015 school year, full implementation will occur for all grades.

The standards are reportedly designed to better engage students in the learning process and will require students to do things like understand, interpret, and analyze problems.
