Florida's Jobless Rate Standing Steady at 6.2%

Florida's unemployment rate is holding steady at 6-point-2 percent, which is pretty much where it's been all year.

During the first three years of the Rick Scott administration, Florida's unemployment rate tumbled from 11 percent to just over six percent.

But it hit a plateau in January and has been stuck there ever since. July's jobless rate was 6-point-2 percent, the same as it was in January, February, April and June.

Florida added 21-hundred private sector jobs last month, but there were so many cuts in local governments that the state ended up losing 16 hundred jobs in July.

Barry University Political Science professor Sean Foreman says Governor Rick Scott will try to spin the numbers to his advantage, saying the rate is not rising on his watch.

He says Charlie Crist will say the Governor is not doing enough to improve the situation.
