September is National Preparedness Month.
And, Federal Emergency Management Agency Deputy Administrator Tim Manning says the awareness campaign this year focuses on kids.
He says the message is for kids to know "who to call, where to meet, and what to pack."
Emergency managers want to encourage families with children to take extra steps to prepare and have conversations with their kids about emergencies.
Broward County is also participating in the preparedness month, encouraging residents to have an emergency plan in place for hurricanes and other events.
