KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Federal and local authorities are investigating a suspicious envelope sent to the Key West office of Congressman Joe Garcia.
A statement from his office released Wednesday says the envelope had an unknown powdery substance. Everyone in the building was ordered to evacuate.
Garcia says in the statement: ``Whether this is a hoax or a legitimate threat, this is a serious matter and should be treated as such. Such scare tactics targeted against any elected official, or public servant, will not deter us from serving our constituents, as we will not be intimidated by these cowardly acts.''
The case is being investigated by local authorities as well as Capitol Police.
