Public corruption scandals continue to plague South Florida.
The state ranks number one in the nation when it comes to federal public corruption convictions.
"Specifically, when you look at South Florida, in the year 2011, there were 13 federal public corruption convictions in South Florida, 21 in the year 2010," said the director of watchdog group Integrity Florida Dan Krasner.
Krasner says the sheer number of municipalities and taxing districts with elected officials make Florida a hotbed for political mischief.
Krasner also said, "When you go back [and look at data] from 2002 to 2011, 284 officials faced federal public corruption convictions in South Florida."
That's higher than any other region in the state, which, as a whole ranks number one in the country for political mischief.
