Suspended Miami Lakes Mayor To Launch Legal Fight To Get Job Back
Posted August 18th, 2014 @ 12:05pm

UPDATE 8/18 12 Noon

The battle for control of the mayor's office rages on in Miami Lakes.

Suspended Mayor Michael Pizzi showing up for work this morning, even though Governor Scott says refused to reinstate him after his acquittal on corruption charges.

Pizzi was not allowed back in his office and is now threatening a legal fight.  He says it's his constitutional right to the job.

But Mayor Wayne Slaton disagrees.  He tells supporters they can rest assured he's not going anywhere.  He says he was elected not appointed to the position and therefore it is his.

He vows to remain in office until 2016.

================================================

 Just when you thought the Saga of Michael Pizzi was over.

 The still-suspended mayor of Miami Lakes plans to go to Town Hall today to reclaim his office.

 The problem is, Miami Lakes residents chose Wayne Slaton as mayor in a special election after Pizzi was suspended last year.

 Pizzi was acquitted of corruption last week and says he doesn't need Governor Scott's blessing to get his old job back.
