UPDATE: Suspended Miami Lakes Mayor and Governor Clash Over Reinstatement
Posted Friday, August 15th 2014 @ 7am

UPDATE: 8/15 5:00am

He's the mayor of Miami Lakes again... at least in his eyes.

After being acquitted of all charges in his corruption trial, Michael Pizzi returned to Miami Lakes Town Hall where his picture still hangs on the wall.

However, Florida Governor Rick Scott's office hasn't reinstated Pizzi.

In a statement given to our news partner at CBS4 it said, “This is a local issue. A new mayor has been elected by the voters of Miami Lakes.”

Since his arrest last August, Pizzi maintained he was always innocent.

Pizzi and other high profile politicians including Sweetwater Mayor Manuel Marono were busted in an undercover FBI sting.

Marono accepted a plea deal in his case.
