Wasserman Shultz Hosts Swimming Safety Roundtable

Wasserman Shultz Hosts Swimming Safety Roundtable
Posted Friday, June 6th 2014 @ 5am

Drowning death numbers are going up.

Before the summer swimming season has even begun, there have been 95 pool or spa drownings Florida alone, we've had 32.

Seven of those were children four-years-old and under in Broward County.

That's why Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is hosting a roundtable forum in Davie to push for better education efforts.

She says federal, state, and local officials will discuss ideas to prevent more tragedies.

They'll be coming up with ideas to prevent more of these tragedies, including education efforts on supervision, knowledge of swimming, and pool safety barriers.

The forum takes place Friday at the Don Taft University Center at Nova Southeastern University.
