California cannabis experts are in town today teaching local entrepreneurs all about the business. The Cannabis Career Institute seminar in Fort Lauderdale will teach cannabis entrepreneurs how to get started in the business. Spokesperson Robert Calkin says it's a booming industry and Florida will be the second largest market in the country.
Amendment 2 which was approved by 71 percent of Florida voters in November, now allows higher-strength cannabis for a wider list of medical conditions. The Florida Department of Health has started the rules-making process that will expand those eligible to receive medical marijuana under Amendment 2.
The department until July to come up with revised rules and until September to implement them. The Florida Legislature will also have a big say in the new rules when their 60-day session begins on March 7.
