'Moonlight' Celebrated In South Florida

"Moonlight," a movie based on a young black man growing up in Miami, is up for several Oscars Sunday night.

The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center is honoring the film with a day of celebration.  Starting at 1:00 p.m. you can watch silent films starring black actors and screen "Moonlight."  Cheryl Mizell with the Arts Center says the movie has a local tie.

"Tarell Alvin McCraney, an alumnus of the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, wrote the story that "Moonlight" is based on," said Mizell.

The free event culminates with the Oscars broadcast.
