Criminals Are Literally Escaping Through The Roof

Escapees in Florida are getting more creative.

At the Orange City Police Department in Volusia County, escape artists are literally going through the roof.

One theft suspect went into the men's restroom at the police department, cut a hole through the ceiling and was able to remove an attic fan, which he climbed through to outside. He conducted this escape all while an officer was standing guard outside of the bathroom.

During his escape, 31-year-old Michael Caruso asked a nearby resident for a ride and tried to get in another person's house.

A K-9 unit was eventually able to track down Caruso and he was re-arrested. Although he told officers he didn't want to go back to prison, he's now facing 14 charges and is being held without bail in the Volusia County Jail.

Police are now in the midst of making updates so that similar escapes will be less likely in the future.
