North Miami Cop Charged in Shooting of Behavioral Therapist

A North Miami cop will face criminal charges in the shooting of an unarmed behavioral therapist who was looking after a man with autism last July.

Officer Jonathan Aledda fired 3 shots at Charles Kinsey, who was lying on the ground with his hands up in the street with a resident of the Miami Achievement Center, who left his care with his silver tanker toy truck in hand.  One of Officer Aledda's shots hit Kinsey.

Aledda faces 1 count of attempted manslaughter, a 3rd degree felony, as well as culpable negligence, a misdemeanor. 

This is the toy truck that was in the hand of the autistic resident.  Charles Kinsey was with the resident when he was shot.

In the arrest warrant another an officer on scene said over the radio, "I have a visual does not appear to be a firearm."
