Miami-Dade Detectives Investigate Transgender Woman's Murder

Detectives in Miami-Dade are searching for answers regarding 28-year-old Chayviss "Chay" Darice Reed's death Friday in the West Little River neighborhood. 

Detectives say the transgender woman was shot in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 93rd Street.

Reed, who was born a male, grew up in Carol City and Opa-locka and graduated from American Senior High School in Hialeah. 

Authorities have yet to say if she was the target of the shooting. 

Reed is the ninth transgender woman in the nation to become a victim of homicide this year, according to The Advocate.
