Seeing Orange? Support National Gun Violence Awareness Day (And Weekend) In Miami, Fort Lauderdale

You may be seeing some extra orange Friday, and Saturday for that matter... and that's because it's National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

As a part of the Wear Orange Campaign, Miami's Intercontinental Hotel and Miami Tower, plus the Bank of America Plaza in Fort Lauderdale, are aglow in the bright hue.

Wear Orange was inspired by Chicago teens who kept speaking out amid daily gun violence. Hadiya Pendleton was just 15-years-old when she was shot and killed in Chicago in 2013. Following her death, friends and family asked people across the nation to stand up, speak out, and Wear Orange to raise awareness about gun violence.

Gun violence kills more than 90 Americans each day and impacts hundreds more. On June 2, citizens across the nation are asked to wear orange -- the bright color that hunters often wear to avoid being shot, and to sent the powerful message that "there is more we can do to end gun violence."

There are family events to promote awareness Saturday in both Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale:
