AP: Attacker Who Drove Into Police Van In Paris 'Most Probably Dead'

Paris police say a man who drove a car into a police van in the Champs-Elysees shopping district this morning has been taken into custody. The Associated Press has also reported that the suspect is most likely dead.

French media quotes police as saying the driver was "on the ground ... unconscious."

The car burst into flames after hitting the van in front of a police station. Police didn't say whether the crash was accidental or deliberate. No one was hurt in the incident.

In April, an attacker defending the Islamic State Group shot and killed a Paris police officer on the Champs-Elysees only days before France's presidential election.

France's anti-terrorism prosecutor has opened an investigation into today's incident.
