Downtown Miami Clubs Disturb Nearby Residents

Dance clubs in downtown Miami are disturbing nearby condo tower residents.

Miami's noise ordinance states that any noise audible more than 100 feet from the source is a violation.

City of Miami Commissioner Ken Russell says a rise in complaints over the noise from the three nightclubs in downtown Miami has the city moving code compliance officers to a midnight shift.  However, the commissioner says it's not a one-sided issue.

"You certainly have to empathize with the clubs who've been in existence for a long time and are operating and a good business partner to the city.  That being said, I do believe that there is compromise.  I believe we can get along and work together," said Commissioner Russell.

The clubs plan to appeal their noise violations and reportedly may mount a legal challenge to the law at the appeal hearing Thursday.
