Police: Florida Man Fatally Stabs Aunt, Stabs Father, Breaks Into Home

A Florida man killed his aunt and stabbed his father 23 times before breaking into his estranged wife's house, according to authorities.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd say a Florida Highway Patrol trooper found 46-year-old Pedro Vega Jr. in a truck on the side of a road in Davenport early Wednesday.

Judd said Vega stabbed and bound his father, 70-year-old Pedro Vega Sr., before repeatedly stabbing his 59-year-old aunt, Rosa Vega. She died at the scene.

Authorities say Vega Sr.'s hands, feet and face were bound with tape. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Deputies responded around 12:30 a.m. to a home near Davenport Boulevard after receiving a call about a man breaking into his estranged wife’s house.

One of the residents inside the home shot at the suspect, later identified as Vega Jr., and may have hit him, according to deputies.

Deputies learned Vega had family next door and found a blood trail that led to the home. That is where deputies say they found Rosa Vega dead.

Vega Jr. was arrested in Osceola County. He was suffering from injuries and was taken to the hospital.

He was arrested on a probation violation charge from Stokes County.

Charges have not been announced in Wednesday’s stabbing death, according to deputies.
