There's no time to waste for the folks in the Florida Keys, as they're faced with the real possibility of taking a direct hit by Hurricane Irma.
Monroe County will be issuing mandatory visitor evacuations expected to begin at sunrise Wednesday. Resident evacuations will be determined.
Monroe County Schools Superintendent Mark Porter also announced Tuesday that schools will be closed from Wednesday until further notice.
Porter said that all meetings, including a school board meeting scheduled for Thursday, have been postponed until further notice as well.
Porter has requested that residents take this opportunity to prepare in case Hurricane Irma hits South Florida.
Monroe County Emergency Management's Cammy Clark says because Irma is a major storm, mandatory evacuations for residents could be ordered as early as Thursday morning.
