Miami-Dade Closes Schools Ahead Of Hurricane Irma

Miami-Dade County School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho announced on Tuesday that all schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

The schools will remain closed until further notice.

As for Wednesday, all extracurricular, athletic activities and adult night classes have been canceled. After school care, however, will remain open until 6 p.m.

Carvalho says updates will be issued over the weekend.

Following suit, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School announced Wednesday that they, too, will abide by the Miami-Dade County Public School System and close on Thursday and Friday due to Hurricane Irma.

Belen Jesuit says their school's reopening will be independent from Miami-Dade Public Schools and that information will be updated accordingly.
