Florida Schools Won't Make Up ALL Lost Class Time, Commissioner Says

Public schools throughout the state won't be responsible for making up all of the class time missed because of Hurricane Irma.

Education Commissioner Pam Stewart has that she is waiving two days of instruction.

In a letter to school superintendents, Stewart said state law gives her the authority to alter schedules in the event of a bona fide emergency.

Some districts in the hardest-hit areas are still closed and the commissioner said they can apply to waive additional make-up days.
