Could SoFlo Become The New National Headquarters For Amazon??

Our state is asking online marketplace giant Amazon to set up shop in South Florida.

The Seattle-based Amazon has called for proposals nationwide as they choose a location for their second national headquarters.

If selected, Amazon expects to invest $5 billion in construction and plans to recruit as many as 50,000 workers for high-paying jobs.

City of Miami Commissioner Ken Russell says it would bring positive change to all of South Florida.

The proposal will include multiple sites for the headquarters and input from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties from the private and public sectors.

A deadline has been set for Oct.19 by the company.

Amazon says they're looking for cities and regions that have access to public transportation, international airports and a big workforce that can work in the tech field.

They are expected to make a decision on their second headquarter location by 2018.
