Police: SoFlo Man Held Woman & Children Hostage, Wouldn't Let Them Eat

Police say a South Florida man kept a woman and her two children from leaving their home, refusing to let them eat or leave their rooms.

James Caparco, 34, was arrested Sunday on charges of false imprisonment, child abuse and battery.

According to a Lantana police report, a woman had let Caparco live with her for the past two months. She  allegedly said she had been physically and emotionally abused before deciding she "had enough."

But when she tried to leave with her children, Caparco allegedly wouldn't let them.

The woman said Caparco dragged her off the bed in their room when she threatened to call police and kicked her when she tried to escape.

During the struggle, the woman's son was able to call police.

Caparco was being held on an $18,000 bond.

A Palm Beach County judge ordered that Caparco not have any contact with the woman or children.
