Monroe County Officer Accused Of Stealing Drugs From Key West Officer

A Monroe County corrections deputy was arrested Tuesday after stealing prescription pills from a family she was babysitting for, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The victim of the theft is Key West police Officer David Kouri.

Authorities say Kouri called deputies in the morning and told them that 27-year-old Ashlie Hernandez had taken prescription medications from his home while babysitting Monday night.

Kouri said he knew how many pills were in the bottles because he had just filled the prescription and had not yet taken any of them.

Officials say Kouri called Hernandez to discuss the theft.

It was during that phone call that Hernandez allegedly told Kouri that she and her boyfriend had taken the drugs.

They agreed to meet in the parking lot of the Key West Police Department so she could return the pills.

The pair met at about 4 p.m.

Hernandez was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and theft of a controlled substance.
