Gunman Arrested After Armed KFC Robbery Ends In Police Shootout, K-9 Attack

Police say charges are pending following an armed robbery at a Southwest Miami-Dade KFC.

Officials say they were called out to the KFC on South Dixie Highway at Southwest 164th avenue just around 1 a.m. Sunday. 

Upon leaving the establishment, employees were allegedly confronted by 24-year-old Johnclif Pierre, who ordered them to go back inside and give him money.

When the store manager unsuccessfully opened the safe, he telephoned his supervisor to request for another passcode for the safe. 

In fear that something was going wrong at the store, the supervisor notified police, according to officials.

Pierre remained inside as responding officers arrived, police say.

Officials say Pierre then shot at police in order to flee and police returned fire. A perimeter was established and the armed he was caught in the area of Southwest 299 Street and Southwest 172 Avenue.

Pierre was bit by a K-9 and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital South for treatment.

An officer was also bit by the K-9 and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Charges are pending.
