Recount Set For Candidates Separated By Only 16 Votes

Whoops! There's a recount happening in the city of Miami.

Only 16 votes actually separated commission candidates Alfonso "Alfie" Leon and Zoraida Barreiro for second and third place in district 3.

The unofficial results placed Leon second in the voting, which usually would put him on the runoff ballot against Carollo. But the margin was so slim that it forced an automatic machine recount, scheduled for Friday morning.

The Miami Canvassing board will begin the process of checking ballots and verifying which individual actually won.

That individual will face off against former Mayor Joe Carollo during a November 21st runoff election for the commission seat.
