Man Arrested In Connection To Turnpike Shooting

A man is behind bars following a road rage incident that led to a shooting on Florida's Turnpike.

Thirty-three-year-old Kwanza Jermaine Donald was arrested Sunday on charges that include attempted murder.

Florida Highway Patrol says the shooting happened about 10:15 a.m. Saturday near Winter Garden. Donald allegedly opened fire on the driver's side window of a car driven by 37-year-old Dexter Bernard.

Bernard and his female passenger, 17-year-old Lashey Bernard, were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds. Both are expected to recover from their minor injuries.

Donald turned himself in to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, admitting to opening fire but telling officers that he did so in self defense and claimed he had been the target in a road rage incident the day before from a car similar to the one driven by Bernard.

Troopers say there is no evidence to support Donald's story.
