West Palm Beach Man, 22, Arrested In Connection With March Fatal, DUI Crash

A West Palm Beach man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of driving under the influence in connection with a fatal crash in March.

Alexander Acosta, 22, now faces DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide charges.

According to Palm Beach County Sheriff'sofficers, Acosta was driving in the 7700 block of Forest Hill Boulevard on March 18 when his Hyundai rear-ended a Mitsubishi. 

The driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as Hialeah woman Carmen Martinez, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said Acosta was speeding and possibly racing with another vehicle at the time of the crash.

According to the report, Acosta said he had come from a party at a friend's house, where he had two cups of whiskey and cranberry juice.
