A Hialeah man was arrested Thursday after police say he stole an aluminum door from a home in Big Pine Key.
The victim called 911 about 3 p.m. Thursday after finding 38-year-old Yoannys Jose Rosa Placeres in front of his home on Bogie Drive.
The victim said he could clearly see the door, which has been underneath his house, in Placeres' truck.
The victim then confronted Placeres, who claimed that the door had been in the street.
Placeres allegedly threw the door into the yard and took off in his truck once he saw the victim pick up his phone to call authorities.
The victim followed Placeres and a police sergeant intercepted Placeres’ vehicle.
Herrin said Placeres continued to deny having stolen the door, but surveillance video shows him walking onto the victim's property and taking the door.
Placeres was arrested on charges of burglary and grand theft. His truck and trailer were towed.
