BSO: Man Arrested In Canada After Murdering Man In Hallendale, Eluding Cops

Police say a Hallendale Beach man was arrested in Canada after crossing the border in an attempt to elude justice.

Ervin Watson, 27, was arrested by Canadian authorities on a previous warrant on Dec. 12. He now faces charges for premeditated murder, fleeing and eluding, grand theft and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling.

On Sept. 22, Broward Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the Kwik Stop, 5551 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. in Pembroke Park.

According to a press release by BSO, 57-year-old Philip Antonino was walking from the store back to his business when he saw Watson berating an elderly man who was cutting grass. Antonino allegedly stepped in and told Watson to back off.

Moments after their first words, Watson pulled out a gun and shot Antonino twice. He then fled the scene.

Antonino was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Watson has seven prior arrests in Broward County starting in 2008. Charges include: grand theft, petit theft, loitering, resisting arrest, burglary, possession of burglary tools, violation of probation and eluding.
