Retired Trooper's Ring Returned Years After Being Stolen From Weston Car

Stolen more than two years ago, a retired trooper's family heirloom is finally back in the right hands thanks to the Broward Sheriff’s office.

The ring, stolen in late 2016, belongs to retired New York state trooper Richard Martino - who handed it down to his son in Weston. It is 32-years-old and was from police academy graduation.

Police found the ring in the possession of a burglar – but with only initials engraved on it, it took eight months to track down the owner.

“It was something that was very important to him and our family,” said his son, Richard Jr. “So I’m thankful and blessed for (BSO) Detective (Chris) Bradley and his efforts and perseverance to really stay on top of this and be able to find it.”

Martino Jr. says he still got a “tongue lashing” from his father when he told him about the stolen ring. But in the end, everybody is just really grateful they have it back.
