A man is dead after plowing his vehicle into a Florida school.
Witnesses say they saw the tan sedan speeding toward Evangelical Christian School on Wednesday. One witness told authorities the driver had "a wild look in his eyes" and appeared to be "on a , mission to self-destruct."
The Fort Myers News-Press reports the vehicle struck a hallway that connects two buildings.
The driver was the only person injured. The Lee County Sheriff's Office did not identify him.
The school will be closed on Thursday.
The principal expressed gratitude that no students were injured, noting the fewest number of people are on campus on Wednesday afternoons because many practices are short.
