SOS Children's Villages Keeps Families Together

SOS Children's Villages - Florida is a foster care neighborhood in Coconut Creek. The tree-lined street has twelve houses, which are home to up to seventy-five boys and girls. The promise of "Healing, Hope and Home for Every Child" assures children growing up in the Village a safe and secure home.

May is National Foster Care Month. Not every kid has a mom, but SOS Children's Villages is a unique foster home organization that aims to change that. The group runs a facility including 13 homes, and the kids live in those homes with their caregivers. The population varies, but organization's director, Jillian Smath says it averages around 65 children on a given day.

Smath says says the organization aims to keep large sibling groups together which is often difficult under traditional foster home circumstances.
