National Safe Boating Week officially began Saturday and, as the week progresses, the Coast Guard reminds boaters to be responsible while on the water.
Among other things, officials remain those on the water to:
- Wear a life jacket
- Take a safe boating course
- Get a safety boating check
- File a float plan
- Avoid alcohol or other drug consumption while on the water
The Coast Guard recommends downloading the safe boating application available on most smart phones.
