Sewage Systems In Opa-Locka Are Failing, Sending Sewage Into The Streets

Opa-Locka's sewage stations are failing.

Local authorities report that the sewage stations are sending raw sewage repeatedly into the streets when it rains.

The situation was so bad last month that Miami-Dade inspectors noted one pump was turned off, and, for 10 days, fecal matter collected in the industrial zone.

It ended up flooding some businesses.

Despite being ordered by the county to treat the stagnant water, it took 10 days for city officials to disinfect it.

Records show only four pump stations in the city are listed in "ok" condition.
