2 Miami Schools Placed On Lockdown During Search For Armed Carjacker

Two Miami schools were placed on lockdown by authorities on Wednesday morning as officials searched for an alleged armed carjacking suspect in the area.

According to local news outlets, an officer who was in route to another call near North Miami Avenue and 62nd Street when he noticed a possible carjacking taking place involving an armed individual who fled the scene to avoid arrest.

No injuries were reported.

Officials set up a perimeter on North Miami Avenue through North Miami Court between 60th and 62nd Streets with both SWAT and K9 units on scene.

Both Edison Park K-8 Center and Toussaint Louverture Elementary School were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
