Palm Beach and Broward County Election Officials Have Broken The Law

Palm Beach County and Broward County Elections officials have broken the law

Bottom Line: There are two sides to stories but one side to facts. Once Senator Marco Rubio alleged illegal activity in Palm Beach and Broward Counties, I went straight to the source. Florida election law. He’s right and the law has been broken in Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Here’s the statute(s) that has been violated (at a minimum) :

102.141 County canvassing board; duties.—

(b) The canvassing board shall report all early voting and all tabulated vote-by-mail results to the Department of State within 30 minutes after the polls close. Thereafter, the canvassing board shall report, with the exception of provisional ballot results, updated precinct election results to the department at least every 45 minutes until all results are completely reported. The supervisor of elections shall notify the department immediately of any circumstances that do not permit periodic updates as required. Results shall be submitted in a format prescribed by the department.

Governor Scott has ordered and FDLE investigation and taken legal action against the Palm Beach and Broward County Supervisors of Elections alleging fraud as well. I don’t know if fraud has occurred, that’s a separate issue to be determined. I do know the law has been broken. For my entire career, I’ve emphasized that every election has consequences. Both Supervisors of Elections are elected positions. If you’re wondering why we’re in this position again, look in the mirror and consider how we’ve voted as a community.
