WATCH: FHP Trooper Hit & Man He Pushed Away Reunite

Update: 12/7/18

Just days after a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was hit by an out-of-control car on I-95 in Martin County, he's reunited with the man he pushed out of the way.

Saying "Thank you Trooper Patel.  Thank you very, very much and God bless you," Rony Bottex now calls Trooper Mithil Patel "family" after Patel followed his instincts and pushed the 65-year-old grandfather out of the way of a spinning car.

Bottex's daughter fighting off tears to give her thanks too saying, "It means so much to myself and my family and I'm forever thankful and grateful for you."

After sharing hugs, a modest Trooper Patel thanked the first responders who saved his life.

He even showed his gratitude to the tow truck driver who witnessed him "do an Olympic-style roll.  I did not land perfect, unfortunately.  Didn't get a 10, but I got a 0 on that one.  I've got to practice more often, I guess at home."

A WPEC-TV crew caught the whole thing on camera.

The trooper was investigating an earlier crash on I-95 near Bridge Road in Hobe Sound when the spinning car slammed right into him.
