Wrong Way Wreck in Southwest Dade Kills 1

A man is dead following a wrong-way crash in Southwest Dade early Monday morning. The scary scene along Southwest Eighth Street at 157th Avenue included a Ford F-150 pickup on its side and a shredded Hyundai Elantra with its roof cut apart to extricate the driver who did not survive the wreck.

Police say the pickup was headed the wrong way when it slammed into the Hyundai. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries while the other driver was pronounced dead on scene.

Florida Highway Patrol conducted toxicology testing to determine whether the surviving driver was under the influence, but have not released details on that yet. Traffic in the area was snarled for nearly seven hours while the investigation took place.
