Municipal Elections In Broward

Today is the first big test for Broward's new Elections Supervisor. Peter Antonacci says he's confident they're prepared to handle this municipal election and they've already started counting absentee ballots. Turnout is expected to be under 10-percent, but Antonacci says they've hired 16-hundred people to ensure there are no glitches like the ones leading to missing ballots and recounts during the midterms. The debacle also lead to the ouster of former Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes who resigned and was then suspended by former Governor Rick Scott. But in an executive order, Governor Ron DeSantis voided the directive removing Snipes from office. DeSantis said he was instead accepting the resignation Snipes submitted on the final day of a controversial midterm election recount, granting her the soft exit she’d wanted. Polls are open from 7 this morning until 7 tonight. Seven Broward municipalities are participating.
