Florida's Spiny Lobster Season Ends

The coastal areas of Florida are flooded with lobster hunters trying to get their share of bounty before the season ends.

The commercial harvest averages 6 million pounds per season, with an average annual value of $20 million. The 8-month long time frame to catch the sea critters begins August 6 and ends March 31.

The two-day recreational sport season is the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday, beginning July 24 and 25 this year.
