Florida Man Attacked and Killed By Own Bird

A Florida man is dead after being attacked by a large bird called a cassowary. Alachua County Sheriff's Office says the 75-year-old man identified as Marvin Hajos was the owner of the bird and the farm where the incident took place. Authorities say the incident seems to be accidental because the man was in the vicinity of the bird and fell. When he fell, the cassowary apparently felt threatened and attacked him. The cassowary, which is native to New Guinea and Australia, remains in a secure location on private property currently.

Cassowaries are considered the most dangerous bird in the world, with large dagger-like claws. Even though they are flightless and look similar to the emu, they are incredibly deadly when provoked.
