Why IG Michael Horowitz Handled The Report The Way He Did?

Today I'm covering three Q&A's.

Today’s entry: If Horowitz keeps saying there was no “testimonial or DOCUMENTARY bias found in his report, aren’t texts between Page and Stroke commenting on how they feel about Trump winning and having “an insurance plan” if he does. Aren’t those bias documents + others?

Bottom Line: It probably sounded odd when I say that December 9th would be a sentinel day in American history. It's just the first step in the bigger process and that AG William Barr and Special Prosecutor John Durham were the key players. I refer you back to my guidance because hopefully with additional context it’s all starting to make some sense. Earlier in the week, I cautioned against buying into the media spin. Every single detail I outlined in my thirty-count indictment story is evidenced in the Horowitz report. It was never his role to prosecute. Just to investigate. John Durham’s the one with the hammer. Both he and AG Barr made that clear on Tuesday.

Horowitz never stated that no one was biased. His report stated that no one testified to him that they were motivated and acted due to bias. Big difference. He depicted 17 specific issues and, in his testimony, he made clear those problems are significant. Yesterday he testified that there were failures by the entire chain of command of the FBI. He called the failures basic and fundamental and stated his report doesn’t vindicate anyone. He also testified that he wouldn’t rule out political bias as motivation for the failures.

Now I don’t know what the news media will or won’t report but I don’t really care. This work has been two years in the making and the truth and accountability is coming. Remember Horowitz isn’t the prosecutor. It’s not up to him to determine if the failures were incompetence, which would still be unacceptable, or criminal. But as for the special prosecutor John Durham, he has a grand jury impaneled for criminal indictments. That’s not for drill.
