The way things have been going this season it was a great sight to see the steady hand of Ryan Weathers lead the Miami Marlins to a 6-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Weathers kept the Giants at bay through six innings, allowing two runs and throwing a career high 10 strikeouts. If it wasn't for a hand cramp before the start of the seventh-inning, Weathers might have had more. But he did more than enough to setup the Fish for the night. After the lefty exited the game, Manager Skip Schumaker called upon the righty Burch Smith. Smith making only his seventh appearance of the season, had a rocky performance allowing three hits and a run to the four batters he faced. However, Smith did enter the game without warming up in the bullpen with Weathers sudden removal. Enter Calvin Faucher, for his second appearance this season, to finish the seventh and eighth innings. Faucher would go 1.2 innings setting up closer Tanner Scott in ninth. Scott ended up walking two batters after the first out of the inning, but didn't rattle. The lefty stuck out and popped out the next two batter to record his second save of the season.
After his slow start to the season, Luis Arraez has been on a tear. Last years N.L. batting champ went 2-5 with two RBI, and now has a his batting average up to .292 for the season. Jesus Sanchez, Tim Anderson and Nick Gordan all also recorded one RBI in the game.
The series wraps up tomorrow afternoon as the Marlins lefty Trevor Rogers will go up against righty Keaton Winn for the Giants. First pitch will be at 12:10 p.m., and coverage will begin at 11:40 a.m. on Fox Sports 940am, or listen locally on the iHeartRadio App.
