Krispy Kreme has been named the restaurant chain most craved by Americans, according to a national poll from Technomic's, a Chicago-based food service research firm.
The restaurant's glazed doughnuts outdid the 115 national chains among the options presented to respondents. Ice creme makers Cold Stone Cremery and Dairy Queen also ranked in the top five places making Americans' mouths water.
Among the top sit-down restaurants were P.F. Chang's, Olive Garden and Red Lobster. Respondents noted that it was Red Lobster's signature biscuits that mostly had them coming back.
Chipotle, Famous Dave's, Culver's, The Cheesecake Factory and Noodles & Company all ranked within the top 20 chains as well.
